2010,08,01, Sunday
 A local summer festival, called Kappa festival (a kappa is a water sprite), was held today on the beach. We went with our friends from Tokyo. These friends had some work in Matsuyama and decided to come here to see us over the weekend. (Thank you very much!) We took them to the festival because Yuki and the Filipino guys were planning to fight in a tournament of tug and a pull as a team-Masayang House. It was such a hot day, and Umeo enjoyed the sea.   The friends stayed only for a night, but spent most of the time there under the sun... I felt sorry but they were nice enough to say "We came here not as guests, but to see you and have a chat". They work for an NGO, Shaplaneer, which we had been involved in a lot. One of them, Ms. F, was a head of Shaplaneer's Nepal office and came back to Japan several months ago after completing her term of office. We updated each other on various things such as our recent activities, what we think now, events of life, etc...They said that they would come here again with another common friend of us, who will be back from Bangladesh soon, so I hope they can stay a bit longer and relax next time. Wakana カッパ祭りと友人 「カッパ祭り」という地元の夏祭りがビーチの傍で開催されたので、東京から遊びに来ていた友人と、出かけて行きました。 この友人たちは松山で仕事があったので、週末を利用して私たちに会いに足を延ばしてくれました。（ありがたい！）（ゆ）とフィリピン人の仲間たちが「マサヤンハウス」というチームを作って綱引き大会に出るというので、応援に行ったのです。とても暑い日で、（う）は何度も海に入って大喜び。 彼らは一泊のみの滞在でしたが、大半の時間をこの浜辺で過すことになりました。何だか申し訳ないな、と思いましたが、「お客さんのつもりで来たんじゃないのよ、会っておしゃべりしに来たんだから」と言ってくれます。 二人は「シャプラニール＝市民による海外協力の会」という、私たちも関わりの強いNGOの職員です。このうちの一人のFさんは、ネパール事務所の所長の任期を終えて、数か月前に帰国したばかり。久しぶりの再会で、私たちは互いに近況報告や最近感じていること、それに家族の様子などおしゃべりは尽きません。もう一人、もうすぐバングラデシュから帰国する共通の友人も一緒にまた来たいと言ってくれました。今度はもう少しのんびりとしてもらえるようになったらいいなと願っています。 （わ） |
