This is how we make our days eventful. This time, we went for a mustard field picnic!
Well, actually the main purpose of the day was to pull out all the mustard flowers in the field that had become "weeds". Good thing is that even children can easily pull out the plants, so we expected Umeo and Sukla to be our work forces as well. It was such a clear and nice day for picnic, so we called one of our neighbors, S-chan, to join us, and we all took lunch boxes.
This is the place which was totally covered by bush and high weeds from last year, and which Yuki had cleaned on his own (it MUST have been a tough job, Yuki!) so that he could plant saplings. After Yuki's hard work, the field started enjoying the sunlight, and then now mustard covers the place. This part of the mountain looks totally different from before, so other farmers often praise Yuki.
Finding the yellow field, Umeo and Sukla got really excited, and started marking their own houses here and there. They claimed that they are in their "yellow home", so we shouldn't remove the flowers...! Oops, that's not what we expected, but their excitement was understood.
Thanks to S-chan, we weeded the place (even "yellow homes by the end of the day), and now the place is ready to plant saplings. We were all happy working there together.

菜の花畑で
今日は一家そろって菜の花畑へピクニックへ。こんな感じで、我が家の日々は何だかいつも行事多し。
といっても、実は目的は雑草である一面の菜の花を抜くことなのです。菜の花は、とても抜きやすく、子どもの手でもスポスポ引くことができます。これなら、（う）と（す）も役に立つかも、との期待もありました。そして、とってもいい天気でピクニック日和です。近所のＳちゃんも誘って、皆でお弁当を持って行きました。
この場所は、去年一面雑木で覆われていたところを、（ゆ）が完全に一人で開墾したところです。（さぞ大変だったでしょう・・・）雑木がなくなり、日が当たるようになり、今度は一斉に菜の花が芽吹いて花を咲かせた、という場所なのでした。なので、山のここの部分を遠くから見ると、まるで色や様子が違っていて、何人もの他の農家さんが「よくやった」と声をかけてくれたのでした。
一面の黄色い山を見て、（う）と（す）の喜んだことといったらありません。そしてすぐに「おうちごっこ」を始めました。ですが困ったことにあちこちを、自分たちの「おうち」だと主張し、その部分の菜の花を引かせてくれません。うーん、戦力だと期待していた大人はまだまだ読みが甘かったようです。ですが、いかにも楽しそうで、無理もない。ひとまず、放っておいて大人だけ菜の花引きです。
Ｓちゃんの多大な協力のおかげあって、この日菜の花はすっかりきれいに引き抜かれました。皆で一緒に仕事ができて、とても楽しい日となったのでした。
