夜中に（う）が騒ぎはじめました。
“ウポレ 行く！”と言って聞きません。“ウポレ（upare）”とは、ベンガル語で“上へ”といった意味で、（う）の日本語交じりのこの言葉を直訳すれば、“上に行きたい！”ということでしょうか。ですが、寝室は二階。上階はありません。どうやら（う）は、“階段”とか“梯子”のことを“ウポレ”と言っているようですね。“一階に下りたい！”ということのようです。
目をつぶっているし、寝言か、あるいは寝ぼけているのだろうと放っておきましたが、なかなか落ち着きません。大声で泣き出す始末で、とうとうたまらなくなり、（わ）が抱き上げました。ベランダ越しに星や月を一緒に眺めているうちに、ようやく治まったようです。
そしてゆっくり布団の上におろして寝かしつけたところで、急に（わ）が産気づきました。
陣痛というほどのものではありませんでしたが、お腹の張りが繰り返し起こります。病院に電話をして、二人で向かうことにしました。
車の中で、移動中にまぎれのない陣痛に替わりました。痛みは強まり、間隔も短くなっていきます。病院に着いて2時間かそこらのうちに分娩室へ。ますます辛そうです。
最後は僕の首に全身もたれかかるようにして、悲鳴のような声があがります。そうしているうちに、羊水がはじけ出たような音とともに赤子の泣く声が聴こえました。股の下から助産師さんににゅるりと押し出されて顔を合わせたこの男の子は、「朱座（すくら）」と名付けたいと、（わ）と二人で、そのように考えています。

Umeo started raising a rumpus at the midnight.
She kept saying "UPARE iku!" UPARE means "upward" in Bengali, so this Bengali-Japanese-mixed sentence seemed like meaning " I want to go upstairs!". But she was already upstairs, and there was nor more upstairs. She was misusing the words UPARE as "steps" or "ladder" which are used to go upward. Considering all these, she actually meant " I want to go downstairs!".
Her eyes were closed, so we thought she was talking in her sleep, but she didn't cool down. Finally, she started crying loudly. Wakana hold her up and took her near balcony. Showing the moon and stars, she started getting chilled. Soon after putting her down, next Wakana started feeling light labor pain.
The pain was not so serious yet, but the contraction continued intermittently, so after contacting the clinic, I drove her to the clinic in Uwajima.
While driving, the pain got stronger and interval became shorter. Within two hours after reaching the clinic, Wakana was sent to the labor room, looking quite painful.
As she was holding my neck and shoulders and almost screaming, her water broke, and soon after that I heard a baby crying. I faced the new born boy who was pushed out by the birth attendant between Wakana's legs. Both, Wakana and I, are plannig to name him as "Sukla".
